The MFH Group is a holding company that acts as a distributor for a number of international consumer products and services including LG Electronics. MFH group has been in operation since 1970 and has enjoyed consistent and increasing success over the years. Beginning with the first pharmacy in the Greater Banjul Area in The Gambia West Africa, into the well-recognized pharmacy with 5 different branches called Banjul Pharmacy.

With a wide variety of goods for both retail and wholesale and a wide group of branches, the MFH Group provides a great network of shops and services to the general and business public. 

Brief History 
Established by Mr. Michel Hocheimy in 1970, MFH Group started off with a small pharmacy in Wellington Street and slowly grew into a proper pharmacy now called Banjul Pharmacy, named after the capital of the Gambia. Banjul Pharmacy makes sure that quality medicine is easily and affordably available to the Gambian people. 

Today, Banjul Pharmacy acts as a retailer and a whole seller to many hospitals, clinics and other pharmacies. In 1988, MFH Group established Sunu Kerr, which means "Our Home" in one of the local languages called wolof. 

Sunu Kerr offered a variety of consumer goods for bath, kitchen and home decor. 

Today, Sunu Kerr has 4 branches and has expanded into hardware, appliances, paint, plumbing, flooring and building materials. Sunu Kerr is among the leaders in Hardware and Building materials in the Gambia, making it very convenient for customers to find almost everything they need in one place to build, maintain, beautify and enjoy their homes. 

In 1991, MFH Group officially introduced LG Electronics (by then Goldstar) into the Gambia. MFH Group became the exclusive agent for this South Korean brand, which was established in 1958. 

Today, MFH Group currently has one of the best LG showrooms of all of West Africa, allowing others to see that tiny Gambia can still meet the standards of any developed country. 

Today, MFH Group has 270 staff and 12 stores in the Gambia. Of course, MFH Group believes that continuous learning is the key to success in todays fast-changing environment, therefore training our staff is a must. We train our staff continuously on product knowledge, customer service, customer relations and staff etiquette. All these tools are necessary to keep our staff challenged and enthusiastic about working with MFH Group. 

MFH Group is a Gambian company and supports the Gambian community with its many charity projects and services. The Group has sponsored many students towards a good education. Currently, MFH Group is one of the major sponsors and a member of the board for the School of the Deaf and the Blind. 

MFH Group sponsors many hospitals such as Bansang Hospital and the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH). In 2003, MFH Group was honored with a ward at the RVTH for sponsoring the Emergency and Accident Ward between 1996-2003. MFH Group has always been apart of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), and will continue to support the efforts made by GCCI to make the Gambia a successful business industry.

The company’s experience in The Gambia is the installation and after sales services (maintenance) of some 1000 Solar Home Systems, 38 larger rural village solar water pumping systems (up to 200,000 ltrs/day capacity), and battery bank backup systems for the private sector. Additionally some 550 portable solar lanterns were marketed. GAM-Solar’s activities started when it received a subsidy for a PV pilot project from the Dutch Government (DGIS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on the basis of a feasibility study conducted by Ecofys Consultants of The Netherlands in 1998. The project was a preparation for a large-scale program for implementation of (rural) solar electrification with the objective to provide household and business electricity through the installation of solar home systems and portable PV lanterns. Implementation of the pilot project was completed in April 2001. Since 2001, GAM-Solar has done major projects with funding from the EU, UN, Japan and other national and international organisations, see solar and water for villages. GAM-Solar Energy employs 25 employees (June 2006).
