WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), is a wireless digital communications system, that is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". It is a non Line-of-sight technology, thus de-emphasizing the need for communication masts and towers. It provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-multipoint links to portable and full internet access. The technology delivers low-cost, open networks with throughput of up to 3 Mbps and is the first all IP mobile Internet solution enabling efficient and scalable networks for data, video, and voice.
WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations. With WiMAX, WiFi-like data rates are easily supported, but the issue of interference is non-existent because our network is built on our 3.5GHz licensed frequency band. WiMAX is a second-generation protocol that allows for more efficient bandwidth use, interference avoidance, and is intended to allow higher data rates over longer distances.
Our subscriber units are available in both indoor and outdoor versions from several world class manufacturers. Self-install indoor units are available for subscribers that are significantly close to our numerous base stations scattered all over Lagos metropolis.
