Kenya Sweets Limited (KSL) , is a family owned company established in 1943. The company is currently being run by the grandchildren of the original founder. It has grown slowly over the years, establishing itself as the quality king of hard candy with premium range products like the world famous "Tropical Mints" and "KSL Fruit Drops" among many others (which can be seen on our products page). We are also home to a variety of processed sugars. KSL has always been very conscious of quality control with the needs of the consumer playing a key role in the development of their products.
The company is currently expanding its capacity and product ranges, from hard candy and compressed tablets to bubble gum, chewing gum, toffees and milk candy.
The management embarked on their Kaizen journey some years ago and are currently working towards ISO and HACCP certification. Kenya Sweets Ltd is not only a market leader of quality sweets in Kenya, but also has a strong presence in the whole of the East African region as well as other parts of Africa. Having also enjoyed indirect exports to countries as far away as the U.K. and U.S.A. The company is also capable of contract manufacture, for franchises who wish to develop a presence in the growing East and Central African economies.

Unified Chemical Company was founded incorporated in Zambia in 1979, to help meet shortages of essential commodities occurring at that time. Over the years the company has established a name for producing high quality products at low prices. Recognizing a need for locally produced vegetable oil, the company began the construction of a new, modern vegetable oil refining center to continue its tradition of high quality products.During the period, 1998 – 2003, the company went through a major rehabilitation of its plant and facilities culminating in the establishment of a modern plant along Katanga Road in the industrial area of Lusaka for the refining of crude soya oil and the manufacturing of soaps and detergents.The plant and technology for the refinery was supplied by De Smet of Belgium who are the world leaders in edible oil refining technology. The oil refinery was commissioned in June 2004. The plant has the capacity to refine 2,000 MT of oil per month. The market share of the company in the domestic sector is steadily increasing over the past one year. During this period, limited quantities have been exported to neighbouring countries as well. IMSA (Impianti Macchine Saponi of Italy) supplied the technology for the soap and glycerine divisions.

Great Diversity

Dangote Group has established a philanthropic organisation named Dangote Foundation, which is dedicated to providing assistance to less-privileged Nigerians mainly in the development of Education, Health Care Facilities, Water Supply, Poverty Alleviation and Sports.
