Willmon Company Limited was established in 1995 by two brothers, William and Simon Abraham. The Gambian Agency for the Management of Public Works -GAMWORKS, was set up in 1993 by the Government of The Republic of The Gambia, with the assistance of the World Bank/International Development Association (IDA), as an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit institution committed to the cause of providing essential public infrastructure and services, creating employment, and building the capacity of local government authorities and construction industry through training, technical assistance and procurement of equipment with an overriding aim to alleviate poverty. GAMWORKS is jointly owned, by way of institutional membership, by the Gambia Chamber of Commerce (GCCI), the Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (TANGO), The Gambia Association of Local Government Authorities (GALGA), The Gambia Bar Association and the National Youth Council (NYC). These institutions through their individual representatives constitute the Board of Directors of GAMWORKS. The Board oversees the conduct and activities of the Agency. Monthly meetings are held at which the Board receives reports and sees how the Agency is measuring up to expectation.
