Continual improvement of Quality standards.   Our History Started with a filling station and a small retail shop in Lobatse, two decades ago: Has spread in to a retail network servicing more than 35% of the FMCG industry in Botswana. We have made our presence intensely felt in Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry within a very short time.   Infrastructure Two centralized warehouses to cover all the outlets. One of our OK Foods store is the best retail outlet in Botswana in terms of turnover and the same is the best in the whole OK franchise in Africa.   Choppies Super Store. These stores are measured over 1000 square meters with all service departments like Bakery Butchery and Fruit & Vegetables   Choppies Value stores Value stores are sized between 250 and 500 square meters and offer more basic commodities to the customers. Choppies is the brand we would like to grow through out Botswana.   Hardware & Furniture Hardware There are four hardware and building materials stores that caters for the lower end of the market in different parts of Botswana.   Furniture These are new concept furniture stores which allow cash service to the customers and government sector at a very competitive level and attract medium and low segment of the market.   Manufacturing Cool Ice This is the only industrial ice making plant in Botswana with a capacity of over 15 tons ice per day. Another plant is in Francistown with a production capacity of 10 tons per day and we are shortly opening a new site in Maun with the same production capacity.   Packaging We have a rice packing unit located in lobatse. We are concentrating on brand building, and this plant packing over 270 tones of rice in one month under our brand name "CHOPPIES". Spices, beans and pulsus are also being packaged now.   Market Share Holds more than 35% of market share in Botswana. Over 15% of Botswana market.   Future Plans We are planning to start four more retail outlets before the end of the year. Strong brand building under choppies with house brand of Rice, Canned products, Toilet Rolls, Dish washing liquid, Samp and Maize and Rice. Javelin Pty Ltd. was traded as Skip Hire, was founded in 1989 and 100% citizen owned. The company has grown from an owner with one employee with one vehicle, to a fleet in an excess of 23 vehicles and a staff of more then 55 employees. The business services more then 550 skips and is equipped with water and sewage browsers. Skip Hire is the leading waste carrier in Botswana and it is estimated that more then 90% of the waste removal required by the private secor, in and around Gaborone, is carried by Skip Hire. Ship Hire is a registered and licensed as a waste carrier. Indeed it was the firsy licenced wadte carrier in Botswana. Its licence certificate was awarded after the company me t the stringent requirements of the Department of Waste management and Pollution Control, which falls under the umbrella of the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism. Ship Hire is currently taking active steps to improve the environment. We are investigating a privately owned landfill in the vicinity of Gaborone. Medswana is a fully licensed Pharmaceutical distributor. We are based in Fairgrounds, Gaborone Botswana. The company was founded in 1995.   Medswana has a total staff complement of 37. We have 4 qualified pharmacists on board, ready to give pharmaceutical advice. All Medswana staff are fully trained on our distribution system and each staff member is committed to give an excellent service at all times.    Warehouse The business operates from Plot 50360, Fairgrounds, Gaborone.  The warehouse is 1332 square metres in size. The total building is 2271 square metres in size. The warehouse is 100% clinical and we make use of the latest technology to ensure a problem free environment. The warehouse is fully computerized with full services on Batch and expiry tracking and is also fully air conditioned. We get inspected at least once a year by the Government’s Drug Regulatory Unit and have never failed an inspection    IT Systems Medswana is making use of Flexgen Cobsolv IT system. This system was specially developed for Medswana for Pharmaceutical distribution.  It is a 100% flexible program that can be customized for any required functions needed to be added to the current system. This system makes Medswana one of the best developed distribution warehouses in Botswana    The system offers full batch and expiry tracking up to the point of delivery. All products work on a barcode system.   Logistical setup Deliveries to clients in Gaborone is done every 2 hours. Products are delivered under appropriate temperature conditions and we offer cold chain on all products that have to be kept at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. We offer a next day delivery service through the services of Botswana Railways and Sprint Couriers to any customers outside Gaborone. In emergencies we offer a delivery through Air Botswana to the nearest airport at no extra charge.    Distribution system Our distribution system was custom made for the Botswana market through experience we gained during the past 13 years. Through a number of changes to the standard wholesale distribution model we have managed to find a winning model for the current market, but as the market change our systems will also change. Medswana offers very competitive pricing to our clients. We also offer full distribution reports to all our suppliers and reports can be custom made for the specific suppliers needs.  We currently distribute products for around 150 companies.   Marketing Medswana has a telesales department, comprising of 4 people who are constantly phoning customers and taking orders and also reminding them of any promotions and deals. We also have 2 marketers calling into customers to take orders, help with any merchandising and promotions, and also to pick up on any issues with our service levels and stock availability. Our qualified pharmacy technician looks after our key accounts and the marketing manager also calls into the market on a regular basis to ensure that the best service is provided and our customers are well looked after.   Medswana is a dedicated and well focused business based in Botswana.
